State Bank of India job online

To get a job in SBI after graduation, one should first track the current vacancies announced by the bank.  They can then send their online application to SBI in the prescribed form for the post for which they are eligible.  If their application is shortlisted, they should be present for written test, group discussion and personal interview.

Step I: Apply for the right position

Graduates can apply for the post of Probationary Officer or Specialist Officer.  There are several categories of specialist officers such as Information Technology Specialist Officer, Assistant Manager (Systems), Assistant Manager (Law), Manager (Law) and Medical Officer.  When applying for the post of Specialist Officer, they should ensure that they have the required post qualification experience for the respective category.

To apply for the post of Probationary Officer or Specialist Officer, one should visit the official website of SBI.  The guidelines for applying will be available on the official website of the bank.  A scanned copy of photograph and signature is essential for online application.  Pay the prescribed application fee at any convenient branch of SBI.  For that, the applicant should download the cash voucher from the website.  After paying the fee, they should get a duplicate copy of the voucher from the bank which will contain details of journal number, branch name, date of deposit, branch code number and amount.  These details should be entered in the online application for the relevant post.

Step 2: Pass the written test

There will be a written examination for the post of Probationary Officer and for shortlisting candidates for the specialist officer categories such as Assistant Manager (Systems), Assistant Manager (Law) and Manager (Law).  The written examination for both Probationary Officer and Specialist Officer will have objective and descriptive part.  The objective type test for the post of Probationary Officer covers the following subjects

 Quantitative ability

 Logic

 General awareness

 English language

Seventy questions will be asked in the logic section and fifty questions each in the other section.  The descriptive exam will ask four more questions.

But in the case of specialist officer exams, English language and logic are mandatory in the objective part.  This area may have a quantitative aptitude.  The descriptive part will be related to law or professional knowledge.  There are minimum qualification points for objective part and descriptive part.  The marks obtained in the descriptive section will be considered to create the final category list.

Step 3: Be eligible for group discussion

There is group discussion for candidates who have passed the written examination of Probationary Officer.  Here a topic will be given on the spot and candidates should express their opinion on that topic.  It is very important to qualify for the group discussion, as the final rank list will be created according to the marks obtained at this stage.

Step 4: Be eligible for a personal interview

Attend the personal interview after passing the written test for the posts of Assistant Manager (Systems), Assistant Manager (Law) and Manager (Law).  This is the last step in getting into the Specialist Officer category.  Instead of a written test, there is only a personal interview to recruit eligible candidates for the category of specialist officers such as IT specialists and medical officers.  So this stage is very important to get into the job of this specialist officer.  There is also a personal interview in the probationary officer recruitment after the group discussion round.  The final rank list of candidates selected for the post of Probationary Officer will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the personal interview.

 SBI Placement Test

While working with SBI is a great opportunity for every aspirant, the recruitment process conducted by SBI is the most difficult of all the bank exams.  The questions are of multiple choice type with a duration of 150 minutes.  There will be only objective questions for the post of clerk.  But the recruitment test for higher posts like probationary officer includes descriptive test in addition to objective test with a total duration of 180 minutes.

Most of SBI's exams cover English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness.  Candidates will have to write about the subject given in the question paper for descriptive test.
